The Koru Games Boccia competitions will be played under the BISFed International Boccia Rules.

1. All games will be played in the spirit of ‘Fair Play’. To mark this all players will shake hands before and after each game.
2. A pair is made up of at least one competitor with physical impairment and one school mate (may be able bodied). For advice please contact Charlotte.
3. Each round robin match will consist of two ends, players getting six balls on each end.
4. A coin toss shall determine the players’ colour (red or blue).
5. The red player starts by throwing the jack (white ball) into the court.
6. The red player continues by throwing their first ball.
7. The blue player then throws their first ball.
8. The person whose ball is furthest from the jack then throws the next ball.
9. This person continues to throw until they have the closest ball.
10. Balls are thrown in this order until all balls are thrown.
11. The blue player starts the second end by throwing the jack and first ball.
12. Players score by having the closest ball to the jack and receives one point for each of their balls closer to the jack than the closest ball of their opponent’s.
13. Scores are totaled at the end of each match, if tied a “single ball tie-breaker” will determine the winner.

There will be a single mixed (gender and class) tournament only. With no gender advantage all individuals will play in the same tournament.

The Boccia tournament will be played entirely on THURSDAY. Round robin games will be played giving final seeding for the finals.  The games will start from approximately 9:15am.

All equipment will be provided by Parafed Canterbury

We are committed to using this tournament as a development for youth officials.  Each team will need their own referee and whistle, we encourage you to use senior student referees from your School or a Highschool near you.  Otherwise a parent/caregiver/coach will be great. Upskilling can happen prior to the tournament for those that need it.

All teams/schools need to have first aid support onsite.

Habit Health will be at the Rolleston Hub to support competitors throughout the Games.
